Plebiscite for Cameo®’s taste in Europe

A trained panel produced an evaluation of taste in December 2000 on fruit from normal storage. _ Cameo® scored heavily for its sweetness, juiciness and its firmness as shown in the above diagram.
It is a crunchy, juicy and sweet apple.

Excellent results at consumer tastings

In 2000, consumer “test tastings” were held with supermarket shoppers and Cameo® received a positive feedback both for its taste and its good looks.
The ratings were as follows:
- a good or a very good apple - 88%
- good looking apple - 82%
- juicy or a very juicy apple - 99%
- intending to purchase immediately - 84%.

Professionals also chose Cameo®. They gave it:
- first place at a fruit testing in Welm research station (Belgium) in 2001;
- first place compared to Gala in Ahrweiler research station (Germany) in October 2001;
- the tastiest apple award at the National Fruit Show (Kent, England) in 2002, 2008 and 2009.

Results of a tasting organised by Laimbourg research station during the trade fair Agrialp on November 6th 2005:

90 participants (visitors of the alpine agriculture show in Italy). The participants were asked to rank the varieties in their order of preference.

Consumer study

In December, 2007, a private company conducted an investigation with 252 consumers to find out their expectations of apples in general and their perception of Cameo®.

Cameo® : fruité et fermeté GB Cameo® : acidité et sucré GB

Inquiries realized on November 30th, December 1st, 7th and 8th, 2007 in 3 supermarkets with 252 consumers. The variety was blind tested in comparison with 2 other varieties. All the results and the modalities of the inquiries are available on request.
